This one day workshop is for people who would like to be creative and artistic, learn some new skills and have fun with textile materials.
Our artistic journey starts with a photo, that is meaningful to you. With various techniques you simplify the picture to your very own design idea, that you can implement with fabric and threads.
In this creative course you will learn several handicraft techniques: transferring a photo to fabric, embroidery by hand and by sewing machine, applique and attaching beads. At the end of the day you will have one very unique piece of art that you can even frame, if you like.
You don’t need any previous experience for this course – just curiosity. Materials and equipment are included in the course price. The only thing you need to bring is some pictures that you like.
This course is 5 hours in total from 10am to 4pm – with a one hour lunch break in the middle. Bring your lunch (a fridge and a microwave is available), or buy lunch from the local bakery or Coop. The workshop is located in Social Fabric’s atelier at Eichstrasse 29, 8045 Zürich (next to Bahnhof Binz and the atelier is at the 3rd floor).
This course is taught by Helka Mäki, a Finnish textile craft teacher and a seamstress. She teaches in English, but can also guide in German.
There are a limited number of 8 spots for this course, so sign up to reserve your spot!
